Are you—or your team—burning out?
Do you feel good at the end of the day? Are you as effective and fulfilled as you used to be? Are you still excited about your work?
If the answer (for you or your team) is no, you’re likely dealing with burnout. And while that’s hard to hear, you’re not alone. Most studies show that 50–65% of people feel burned out right now, and nearly 80% experience burnout at least sometimes. In other words, at least half of your team—and often more—is feeling this strain.
(Okay, that wasn’t the good news. Stick with us.)
The tough reality: burnout is increasing
Here’s the not-so-great news: burnout isn’t just common—it’s getting worse.
Every generation entering the workplace since the 1970s has reported higher levels of burnout than the one before it. Add in the rise of remote and hybrid work—where people consistently report greater stress than those fully in-office—and it’s no surprise we’re seeing more disengagement, quiet quitting, and once-outstanding employees simply doing what’s required to get by.
This isn’t a motivation problem. It’s a vitality problem.
The hopeful news (and we really mean it)
When we asked our Choose People community if they had advice for beating burnout, you responded immediately—with generosity, insight, and encouragement for one another. Many of you had never even met.
That response reminded us of something essential: we are wired to help each other heal and thrive. That’s the kind of world—and workplace—we want to help build. And that’s our first piece of genuinely good news.
The second is this: while many of the ideas our community shared overlapped, they pointed toward something deeper than productivity hacks or surface-level self-care. After years of doing this work and following the research, we’ve found a different approach to burnout—one that has produced far more lasting results than squeezing in another tool, system, or wellness checkbox.
